A New Apprentice

Misery lowered her head and growled in return ears down flat. It was a habit. Any wolf takeing a fighting stance Misery took her own stance. Misery let her hair stand and her hackles raise. Her legs spread to dodge easily.

Vixen only growled harder at Misery, disapointed at her reaction. "Fool. If someone discovers you, attack before they can. Claim the advantage before they do." she swiped her paw over air, the breeze feeling good through her fur.

She let her fur lie flat, but her ears stayed down. "Now, let's test your swimming skills." she barked, with slight malice.

Misery nodded. WIth a yes ma;am and padded pover to the water. How she dispised water. It helped her think straight though.

With little more notice than a flick of her tail, Vixen pushed Misery into the water, shoving as hard as she possibly could. Spring hadn't come yet, which had left the water completely thawed, but chilled. Good. "Swim, pup. Don't get out until you've gotten yourself a fish." she growled at her, a meaning within her harsh words. She knew that she was doing her teachings right. Be harsh to show leadership and dominance, and good lessons for loyalty and strength. She wondered slightly if Misery knew what she was trying to teach her now.

Misery Nodded and swam. Ducking her head under water. Yew fish. But she understood the need of thhe lesson. She cam eback up took a deep breath and plunged under. Her eyes open in the water. She swam towrads the bottem. Right there a fish! She snapped it in her jaws makeing dropsof blood pollute the water. SHe swam backl to shore and droped the fish at Vixen's paws. She was coold wet, an shakeing.

The sniffed at the fish slightly, her lips curling up in a snarl. "I asked for a fish, not a minnow." she narrowed her eyes. Shrugging slowly with her eyes closed, she rolled her shoulder blades around. "Never the less," she opened her violent yellow eyes, "We will keep going."

Standing up, she walked over to the tallest willow along the lake's shore. "Climb to the top and catch me the fattest squirrel here." she ordered Misery.

"Yes, Ma'am." Misery said running to the tree and shakeing her fur dry real quick. She jumped to the lowest branch. And climb up manageing to keep up there. She sniffed the air looking for the squirrl scent. There a nice fat one. She slowly moved trying not to make a sound. Snapping it quickly in her jaws she climbed down.

Vixen snorted, droplets of lake water ice cold flung into her pelt, sending her chills, though she tried to ignore them. She looked behind her, good it was still there.

Turning back to her new apprentice, she almost grinned. "Take those and place them outside that cave behind us. Then bark as loud as you can, as hard as you can." Causes and effects was a game she just adored.

Misery sighed. How did she know something dangerous was gonna happen. What was it a bear, she tought. She picked up her catches and walked to the cave. She took a few steps back and made a short series of loud barks.

A snore came out in reply, rumbling through the black abyss. A stomp, another stomp, and finally glistening yellow fangs pulled back in a snarl, roaring hard in Misery's face. A large bear took a huge paw and swatted at the she-wolf, it's black claws easily as long as her snout.

"Next assignment: Kill the bear without dying!" Vixen called out to Misery, she'd intervene if she absolutely had to, but only if Misery was practically dying.

"How'd I know," She muttered flying back and leaping onto the bears back. Trying to sink her claws into it's neck. Her long fangs could peirce it hard.

The bear roared in protest and reared onto its hind legs, about to shove itself into the pitch black cave, against a jagged wall that would either kill him or the wolf upon its back.

Misery drove her teeth harder into it's neck as it thrusted back into the cave leaping away with a flip and landing in forn tof it as a spike slammed tourgh it's body. The blood dripping form it's body. Desire burned. But she shook her head ignoreing it all.

The bear fell with a fractured vertebrae, its body leaving a thud. Vixen growled, "Damn. There goes my entertainment." Sighing, she padded up to Misery. "Very good. Fast thinking is key to winning a fight. When you have a choice to attack first, attack second. With defense you can choose how to best overcome your opponent." she lashed her tail once.

"Right," Misery said with a quick nod. Tough she must admit she was hungrey, and this was a dead creature. Did bear meat taste. Good . Offcially think with her stomach she walked to the bears side and sniffed. It smelled safe to eat. Misery looked at her mentor with questioning eyes. Was it safe to eat it?

Vixen narrowed her eyes, "I never said you could eat it, you twit." Standing up, she started to walk away. "Drag it back to camp." The she-wolf grinned, "Tonight we feast."

Misery sighed with an okay look grapping it's large leg and began makeing the slow process of moveing it. Her stomach growled loudly. God was she hungrey. It burned feircly in her stomach. Yet something told her as a newbie in the pack she would be treated as an omega. A fusterated grunt later and she resorted to rolling the gant bear.

Vixen kept walking, ignoring the grunts and sounds of exertion. Misery would have to build her strength and stamina up, this would do both at the same time.

Misery backed up a few paces seeing a hill leading torwads camp. Her wits palyed in here. She took paces backs. About ten badgers could fill the gap nose to tail. Misery went running forward top speed and slammed herself against the bear. As it gave way down the hill Misery was cuaght up in it and when rolling with the bear attached to it's belly. It landed on the flat ground and Misery pulled her self out dizzy. She took a few drunk like steps and toppled over.

"Effort was decent." Vixen called over her shoulder, already walking into camp. The pup would have to try harder than that.

"uhhh huh..." Misery think she may have jsut damaged her brain. A massive headache, and dizziness that would last a while longer pinned her to the ground.

She heard the stop in movement behind her and whipped around, to see Misery on the ground. She took two steps in her direction and growled. "Get up, mutt. I didn't say you could rest now." Was she being too hard? Plenty. Was she enjoying it? You betcha.

Get up, those words wern't in her vocabulary. Misery opened an eye. "What does get up mean." Her words were slurred while she was still trying to pull herself togather. Her head spunand she think she might vomit. Her body ached. That was a stupied idea. Next time less space for her charge so she might stop.

"Move your paws and push yourself off the ground, pup." Vixen rolled her eyes, forcing her tongue to form the words slowly.
