'Why do you waste my time!?'

A flash of white fell upon the wounded stag. It had been high and mighty but yesterday, leader of his herd, but then he had broken his leg. And now, he was doomed to die, bleeding heavily from his flank. He had been chased for almost nine hours, hardly being allowed to rest, never long enough to eat or drink. Finally, the predator had caught up with him, and the last thing he saw before loosing conciousness was the gleam of white fangs around his throat and the swirling mass or red...

Kestrel fell away from the prey, licking his lips. He was as tired as the stag had been, and if he had not stricken then he would have had to give up the hunt, and it was a fine prize. It had put up a good fight, and though he was a killer, an outlaw, he still had honour for those he slew. He rested his paw on the deer's head for a moment before taking a bite of the meat, pulling out one of the throat bones. He looked around, placing it in a hole he dug between the roots of a tree, so that the essence of the deer would find the underworld and rest at peace. He turned back to the kill, snarling at the ravens that flew down to watch him as he ate, greedily watching the carcass.

Vixen strolled up quite calmly, looking at Kestrel with golden yellow eyes that pierced through the thickest of night fogs. Her tail stood out behind her, curling and waving back and forth slowly, each lash letting air seep through her black-tipped fur of deep auburn. She flicked her ear, casually looking over at the white wolf she called leader. "I was hungry, but I've suddenly experienced a loss of appetite." She said, looking at the Alpha ripping through the meat as if there were no tomorrow.

Kestrel snarled. "If you find eating unnerving, you should rethink your plans *resists the urge to put the word for a female dog here*. Eat if you are hungry, if not leave." He was in no mood to see anyone, and he was tired after the long hunt.

ooc: that would have been funneh and appropriate, since it is the technical term. I think we should allow that, actually.

A flick of her tail and a grin showed on her face. "Oh my, I believe someone is hungry." She retorted, narrowing her eyes. She was parished herself. She hadn't eaten more than a hare in a few days and her stomach was beginning to notice how hollow it was.

She moved just a bit closer, "I came here to tell you everyone is assembled and waiting for you." Vixen informed Kestrel. "I just wanted to know when you actually planned on showing up, Kestrel. There's no need to snap." She growled at him, tensing briefly. She was trying to be nice, really she was. A little sarcasm here or there, nothing to harsh. But she could stop herself if Kestrel decided to play her game twice as hard.

"Don't rush me. This kill was necessary. Eat now, and rest. I need the stag's bones."

Vixen sat down, wrapping her tail around her paws neatly. "I don't need to eat, not now. Have your fill and we'll start moving again." The she-wolf gazed up at the sky, seeing that by the time they got back, it would be nightfall. She was ecstatic, she loved the night. Any wolf should, but she was at her best in the darkness. It was her serene happiness.

The she-wolf looked back down at the wolf, then at the bones. How peculiar. She looked at the stag. It was fun digging all those foot holes, and she laughed when it finally tripped in the one after dodging so many, forming a comical dance. Glancing up at Kestrel, she felt somewhat grateful for the task. It was probably appropriate to thank him, but she found she couldn't. She simply shrugged, looking back at her surroundings. She'd keep watch.

ooc: enter Blue, stage...wherever? Or will he be with all the 'assembled' peoples?

Kestrel growled. His plan would have to go forth soon, and now the prophet was here he would know anything that might get in his way. Soon he would advance. "Are you done yet ?"

Vixen looked back over at the white wolf, her yellow eyes narrowed. "I was waiting for you." She kept her voice level, blocking out all the annoyance vibrating through her skin at the moment, all the disdain buzzing in her paws, begging for a fight. Fighting was not the best option now, she wanted to see what was happening. Why the need for bones?

"Very well. Take the bones, I shall take the meat. No need to waste is there?"

"I suppose not," the she-wolf replied, her voice non-challenging, picking the small bones up, holding them gently in her jaws, sweet blood and succulent juices seeping into her taste buds. She felt a warm rush in her veins and a violent urge to hurt something, but pushed it aside, more in tune with the task at paw rather than pity blood lust.

"Where to, Kestrel?" Vixen felt herself calm down, no matter how annoyed she was a few moments again. She let go and kept going, eager to find out what was to happen with the deer bones, why they had to kill that stag in the first place.

"The Valley. I must prepare." Kestrel was more-or-less dead because of Wolv's muselessness.

Dipping her head, Vixen followed the white wolf, matching his stride paw for paw. The Valley? What were they preparing for?

She entered the territory. Entering this territory was probably the stupidest thing she had ever done, since she knew theses wolves were probably going to be the most hostile to her. but if she kept out of their way, even if they did scent her, they should have no reason to bother her. And she did need to hunt.
